Paramedic Program
The Paramedic is the higher level of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ladder and are advanced specialists in pre-hospital emergency care.

The application deadline for Paramedic is June 1.

Paramedics are licensed EMTs who then receive training in advanced life support measures, including venipuncture, intravenous therapy, endotracheal intubation, medication administration, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardioversion and defibrillation.

 

The paramedic course is a three-semester program including Fall, Spring, and Summer A semesters.

The paramedic course occurs once a year.

The paramedic course meets on Mondays from 1:30 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:20 p.m.

Paramedics are most frequently employed by ambulance services, fire departments, hospitals, and emergency clinics.

EMT Students get training in Basic Rescue and Extrication; Paramedics recieve advanced training.

 

The starting salaries for paramedics average about $30,910 per year.

For paramedics in need of recertification, a paramedic refresher course is available.
