The EMT course requires a serious time
commitment from every student. Each semester, the EMT core courses meet Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. In
addition, we have an 80 hour clinical requirement. Students will
have to complete the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
and Basic Rescue and Extrication class during the semester in
addition to the core training. EVOC and Basic Rescue are
typically completed in two weekends; or one weekend, two
Monday and one Saturday classes.
EMTs are most frequently employed by ambulance
services, fire departments, hospital, and emergency clinics.
The starting salaries for EMTs average about
$27,965 per year.
For EMTs in need of recertification, an EMT
refresher course is available.
